Infant Before Ego

Before we were named
We encountered the Other
as self birthing self.

RE: Mirrors

Over time, the newcomer becomes the self,
and the younger one, the more innocent
woman with the still brown hair and smooth skin,
becomes the stranger whose thoughts seem oddly foreign.

The mirror is a comfort
A two dimensional me
But yet, it's a false reflection
For it's not my reality

Mirrors

From what place lost did the visitor come quiet,
into my home where our eyes now meet,
Should I fight, mourn or flee,
from the stranger standing where the mirror should be?

Do you see

Do you see what I see in my reflection of me?
I judge myself too harshly you say,
Who else sees you this way?
Of all these little imperfections I long to be free.

Self Before Self

Self before self--no.
Not of my identity.
We exist unseen.

Split Second

Reflection not known.
Shapes and lights bouncing before.
The self --eye discerns.

RE: Do you see

In the mirror I see beauty and acceptible imperfection.
Aging gracefully, even better than in the past.
But unaccountably, it seems not to matter.
The stranger I see is still my only daily companion.
