Eyes Opened Wide (pt 1)

My eyes opened wide to obscene genocide.
The picture of a father who cradles his son,
the only one left when his siblings died.
Bombs dropped on his village by planes that fly
death to the Nuba; evil taking pride
to wipe away grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles and aunts
who speak to the same God through a different faith,
who inherited each strong black face, a different race.

The sin-filled goal? To steal the land, to force them out,
slaughter is permissible, heinous butchers brook no doubts
that they have a right to annihilate sweet families entire,
a tribe of traditions, so swiftly gone in explosive fire.
Eyes opened wide, anguished hearts cry, there is no why
to justify the inferno of flames, Hell's mass murder fly-by.
